Day 4 · Through Love
Even love becomes heavy when we try to possess it. When someone does not meet my expectations, disappointment and frustration often follow.
But when I release those expectations, love flows more gently and freely — simply by seeing it as it is, and accepting it as enough.
The disappointment experienced when expectations are unmet is a core concept in the psychology of relationships, often studied through the **Expectation Disconfirmation Theory (EDT)**. Disappointment arises not from a partner's flaw, but from the **discrepancy** between what we anticipated and what we received. Crucially, many of the heaviest expectations we place on love are **implicit**—unspoken rules we unconsciously impose on others, making them virtually impossible to fulfill. The mindful practice of 'letting go' involves shifting these implicit, possessive demands into conscious acceptance, transforming the relationship from a demanding contract into a space of shared, unconditional presence.
In that soft space, love becomes light again. It returns to its natural form — spacious, warm, and free. And in that freedom, both you and I are quietly healed.
