Harmony VI

Image
© Jaclyn Bae 2025 Harmony VI | Folded Paper Installation Harmony VI is created from hand-dyed paper folded in the tradition of ddakji , a classic Korean paper-folding game. Though the form begins with play, the act of folding, layering, and repeating transforms the paper into a meditation on life’s structures and relationships. Each folded piece may appear simple on its own. Yet when assembled together, the components create a new order — a visual expression of harmony, unity, and the quiet balance found in life’s interconnected layers. Through Harmony VI , Jaclyn Bae reflects on how even the smallest gestures of daily life may carry depth and meaning. By transforming paper through color, structure, and repetition, the work invites viewers to consider how ordinary experiences can unfold into beauty, hope, and quiet faith. Blessing

Blessing — Paper Installation by Jaclyn Bae Hand-Dyed Coffee Filter Paper Installation · Blessing Series I Artist Statement Blessing is an installation created from hand-dyed coffee filter paper, folded one by one to evoke a gentle descent of light. Each fold became a moment of meditation — a quiet gesture of faith, gratitude, and intention. The paper, fragile yet luminous, carries a sense of renewal. As the colors blend and expand, they mimic the way grace enters our lives — softly, unexpectedly, and with warmth that gathers over time. This work reflects the belief that even the simplest materials can hold profound beauty and meaning. Like small blessings woven into ordinary days, Blessing offers a quiet reminder of light descending into life. Artist Reflection Blessings can mean many things — abundance, health, joy, or love. Yet at the heart of ...

Morning Wave

Image
Morning Wave Morning Wave is created from deconstructed denim jeans—bleached, cut, pulled apart, and reassembled to mirror the rhythmic movement of the ocean. The worn edges, faded seams, and subtle marks embedded in the fabric speak to years lived and stories carried in everyday material. Denim, familiar and intimate, becomes a metaphor for resilience. Through washing, unraveling, and layering, the fabric takes on a new form—reflecting how lived experiences shape and refine us over time, much like waves meet the shore, leaving traces of change. The word “Morning” signals renewal—light returning, breath softening, and memory settling into clarity. This work invites viewers into a quiet, reflective moment: a small wave rising again with hope, reminding us that transformation often begins gently. © Jaclyn Bae · Denim Textile Artwork See also: Harmony Series Explore Harmony Series I–VI — ...
