Fragments of Memory
🧵 Fragments of Memory Series
Textile & Mixed-Media Works by Jaclyn Bae — exploring time, memory, and transformation.
The Fragments of Memory Series is a collection of textile artworks crafted from repurposed denim garments — carrying traces of time and life. Each piece holds fragments of stories, memories, and emotions, reassembled into new forms of reflection and transformation. Through this series, Jaclyn Bae visualizes the flow of time and the beauty of recollection — where the past, present, and future converge in quiet harmony.
Each work in the Fragments of Memory series captures layers of time and human experience. From I’s delicate beginnings to III’s white-painted surfaces of fading memory, the series continues to explore how truth, recollection, and transformation intertwine in Jaclyn Bae’s evolving practice.
Artist’s Reflection
The Fragments of Memory series began as a quiet meditation on time — on what fades, what remains, and what transforms within us. Working with old denim, a fabric worn close to the body, I found traces of life, gestures of movement, and the softness of aging woven into each thread. Layer by layer, I stitched together pieces of the past to form new surfaces of remembrance, painting over them with white to evoke how memory becomes gentle, blurred, and sometimes altered by time.
These works are not only about remembering but also about letting go — allowing stories to dissolve into light, leaving behind textures of faith and grace. Each piece, in its quietness, asks how we hold on to moments while embracing their impermanence.
