Dream III | Fiber Art Series
Dream III continues the evolution of the Dream I–IV series, created entirely from reclaimed denim
garments that have been discharged, softened, coiled, and shaped into sculptural fiber compositions.
This series centers on the experience of layered dreaming — where one dream blends into another,
and inner recollections merge with the imagination.
In Dream III, the work moves toward the threshold between clarity and reverie.
Here, the discharged blue fibers resemble fading memories: fragments that dissolve at the edges,
yet gather again through repetition and circular motion.
The coiled structures echo the rhythm of dreams that loop and reform, creating soft tensions between what is remembered and what is imagined.
The piece reflects the quiet space where memories shift form — where thoughts drift, return, and overlap.
Through layered texture and sculptural density, Dream III visualizes the internal movement of consciousness,
exploring how the mind reconstructs emotion and time through patterns, spirals, and repetition.
As part of the larger series, Dream III serves as a bridge between the introspection of Dream II
and the resolution found in Dream IV, adding depth to the narrative of dreaming, remembering,
and the continual unfolding of the inner landscape.
### **The Architecture of the Inner Landscape: Dream III**
*Dream III* delves into the most subtle and perhaps deeply buried layers of the subconscious, using a near-monochromatic palette of grays and off-whites. This color restraint is a deliberate artistic choice, reflecting the quiet, almost indiscernible processes of **deep memory storage** and **emotional resolution** that occur during sleep. The complex arrangement of coiled denim, varying in size and texture, forms a sculptural relief map of the inner mind.
The use of **reclaimed denim** carries significant weight in this particular piece. Unlike the vibrant textures of daily life, the subdued tone of the denim in *Dream III* speaks to the erosion and abstract quality of **long-term or suppressed memories**. In the context of art therapy, the act of meticulously coiling and assembling this fabric is a form of **active meditation**, transforming fragmented recollections into a coherent, organic whole. The fiber structure becomes an analog for the brain's attempt to sort and re-index emotional history, suggesting that the most powerful narratives—our deepest dreams and memories—are often composed of quiet, repetitive layers rather than loud, sudden events. This work, therefore, serves as a testament to the therapeutic potential of making visible the invisible architecture of the self.
